Women massively gave up shaving for a month and shared photos of the result on the network. They are published by The Sun.
Members of the Januhairy ("Hairy January") movement began growing body hair at the beginning of the month. Many of them have posted pictures with unshaven armpits, belly and legs on social networks with the hashtag # Januhairy2020.
Photos of activists showing hairy body parts were posted on Januhairy's official Instagram account. So, for example, in one of the frames, a girl named Emma poses in a bra, showing vegetation on her armpits, and the phrase “without hesitation” is written on her arm with a marker.
“Advertising has inspired women for years that they must remove all visible hair in order for society to accept it. This is Emma, who shows her hair without the embarrassment of #januhairy,”the author of the post signed the photo.
Another activist, Esther, showed off her hairy chest and shared a story about what she used to hide her. However, now she accepted herself and stopped removing vegetation in the décolleté area.
“I realized that the beauty industry develops various complexes in women in order to earn billions on them. This thought helped me to love myself with all the features,”said Esther.
The trend was launched by 22-year-old University of Exeter graduate Laura Jackson. The movement's activities are aimed at charity: all the funds raised are planned to be transferred to the Tree Sisters, which is fighting for the preservation of the environment. Jackson was inspired by the idea of another community, Movember ("Usabr"), in which every November men do not shave their mustaches for a month and donate money to fight male diseases.
