In the Chelyabinsk Regional Clinical Hospital, doctors sewed a brush to a 30-year-old welder, which he cut off in an accident.
The man was threatened with disability. The brush was cut off with a band saw, Mikhail Golev told the press service of the ChOKB.
“When I was setting it up, there was a power surge and the mechanism started. To be honest, I didn’t even understand what happened, it didn’t even hurt - everything was so fast - and everything was covered in blood! - the patient recalls.
As you know IA "Ural Meridian" in the hands of regional surgeons, the welder did not immediately fall. The man was sent with an ambulance to the city hospital, time passed for minutes and seconds. The doctors of the CHOKB managed to start the operation only after 10 from the moment when the saw cut off the hand.
Plastic surgeons of the PSCB have already sewed on patients: fingers, hands, forearms, feet, ears and even noses. Mikhail's operation was carried out under the direction of Alexander Pukhov, head of the Department of Reconstructive and Plastic Surgery at the PSCH.
“Sometimes operations last 12 or even 20 hours by several teams. Neurosurgeons, vascular surgeons, traumatologists and other specialists have to be involved in the process. We have such an opportunity. I am glad that lately such large amputations have become much less frequent,”said Dmitry Altman, chief physician of the PSCB.
Natalya Malukhina, press secretary of the ChOKB clarified that since the beginning of the year, only 17,360 surgical operations, including high-tech ones, have been performed.
