Every year on the last Sunday in February, the world turns on televisions, life stops in Los Angeles, and A-list stars are put to a serious test of strength - and all because of the award ceremony of the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, better known as the "Oscars" …
The ceremony has been held since 1929, but in the 1990s the distribution of press attention to different parts of the event began to change. Over the past three decades, the Oscar red carpet for celebrities to walk to the Kodak cinema has gained almost more media weight than the list of nominees and winners.
Fashion publications unanimously call the Oscar track "the most influential catwalk in the world", and actresses acquire huge teams of coaches, nutritionists, cosmetologists, stylists and plastic surgeons before the event in order to be the best version of themselves at the Oscars.
When the attention of an entire planet is riveted on you, when publications analyze every inch of your face and body, oversights are very expensive. Moreover, a successful exit at this ceremony can turn into a serious profit: brands choose their ambassadors from those actresses who stood out favorably even against the background of their Hollywood colleagues.
Ahead of the 2017 Oscars, we have gathered facts about how actresses are adjusting themselves to unrealistic standards, and talked to those who help them meet the set bar.
HAIR & MAKEUP
Back in the 1990s, many stars themselves painted and did styling before going out on the red carpets, but today only desperate ones go for it (there are those in Hollywood).

In addition, the makeup for the ceremony (even if it looks very natural) is neither light nor even more comfortable.
“For going to the red carpet, make-up artists use persistent products that will last up to 8 hours and will not need much adjustment. Such makeup close up gives the impression of a mask or theatrical makeup - unfortunately, this effect is inevitable. But the viewer will never guess about it. Plus, over time, make-up shrinks: this happens in the process of dissolving the makeup products on the skin - fortunately, rather slowly,”explains Ernest.
DRESS
Modern pop culture is designed in such a way that the actress may not have good new roles, but she cannot afford to come to the Oscars in a bad dress. Real battles are unfolding for the stars of the highest echelon, because fashion brands will not have the opportunity to "show themselves" to such a huge audience for a whole year after the ceremony (therefore, brands are ready to pay generously for such advertising).
If an actress has a contract with a brand, as a rule, she comes out in a dress of this brand (therefore, for example, Jennifer Lawrence came to Dior for the last three Oscars). And when a committed star violates an agreement, it creates a scandal.
So, in 2013, Anne Hathaway suddenly decided to change her dress the night before the ceremony - she had to go to Valentino (and the brand announced it), and went to Prada. As a result, Anne had to apologize to both the Italian fashion house and the American TV viewers, who in a hurry found the transparent dress chosen on the chest too frank.
“It happens that in the morning the heroine wakes up and says that she has changed her mind about going to the ceremony with open legs or with a neckline. It does not depend on anything, you just need to be ready for this and be sure to have something in reserve. But a particularly successful dress can be stolen. So, in 2015, after a ceremony in a hotel, a Calvin Klein Collection pearl dress disappeared from Lupita Nyong'o's room (though later the attacker returned it - it turned out that the pearls were artificial).
Alexandra adds that the choice of dresses for the red carpet is significantly different from the selection of images for other events, because on the paths of the stars are photographed from all sides. It is important to take this into account even at the stage of fitting and to think in advance how to hide the problem areas of the actress, while not offending her.
Fitting is a separate topic, by the way. Stylists hunt for masters who know how to sew a dress, taking into account the proportions of the client and without violating the idea of / u200b / u200bthe dress.
One of the most famous Hollywood seamstresses is the Russian woman Lyudmila Tomashevskaya, who works under the pseudonym Lyudmila Couture. Jewelry is the most talked about part of the Oscar look after the dress. But if dresses are discussed in terms of fashion, fit and individual style of an actress, then jewelry is of interest to everyone because of their astronomical value. Jewelry brands have only two events that are suitable for promoting high jewelery: the International Cannes Film Festival and the Oscars.
On the red carpets of these ceremonies, items appear that the general public is unlikely to see again (and which are sold behind closed boutique doors, not even getting into the pages of magazines).
According to media reports, the stars receive astronomical royalties for the release in the necessary jewelry - 750 thousand dollars, which Tiffany & Co. paid in 2011, became a favorite behind-the-scenes story in fashion media. But the amount for which, in theory, you can buy the jewelry themselves, is still discussed more often.

COSMETOLOGY AND PROCEDURES
If you list all the possible beauty preparations for the Oscar, you get an excellent texture for a horror movie about crazy doctors.
