MOSCOW, November 3. / TASS /. Experts from the Scientific Council under the Security Council (SC) of the Russian Federation called for strengthening the protection of biologically hazardous facilities from cyberattacks and eliminating legal gaps in the field of anti-terrorist protection of such enterprises. This was announced on Tuesday by the press service of the Security Council of the Russian Federation following a meeting of the profile section of the scientific council.
In particular, the Security Council experts pointed out the need for further scientific study of issues of protection against biological threats.
"It was proposed to develop additional measures to protect biologically hazardous facilities from cyberattacks aimed at disrupting the technological process," the message says.
In addition, it was recommended to conduct research aimed at identifying gaps in the legislation in the field of ensuring anti-terrorist protection of biologically hazardous facilities with the "development of recommendations for their elimination." Also, the Security Council experts spoke out "for the differentiation of criminal and administrative responsibility" in the area of violation of the requirements for anti-terrorist protection of biologically hazardous facilities, the press service said.
Biologically hazardous objects include enterprises of the pharmaceutical, medical and microbiological industries that use a biological factor, the main components of which are microorganisms, products of metabolic activity of microorganisms and microbiological synthesis.
