Over time, any perfume, to one degree or another, undergoes changes and deteriorates. Proper storage and care of the bottles will help to avoid this. Viktoria Popkova, an expert and training manager of perfumery, spoke in more detail about how to maintain a pleasant aroma for the nose and heart.

She noted that the shelf life of the product is on average three to five years. However, this does not mean that expired perfume cannot be used, reports Elle. According to Popkova, the compositions retain their unique properties longer than creams or lipsticks, since the fragrances contain alcohol, which is an excellent preservative.

Rules to help preserve the scent of perfume for a long time

It is better to store vials away from direct sunlight, in a dark place. This will protect the molecular structure of the fragrance constituents from destruction. The optimum temperature for storing perfume is 20-25 ° C. Humidity should be around 70%. The specialist noted that the bathroom is not the best place to store the scent. The bottle does not need to be shaken or shaken. If the scent is more than five years old, then it is better not to keep it in a table drawer or in the glove compartment of a car. To prevent air from entering the perfume, you should always put a lid on the bottle. If there is a spray bottle, then this problem is partly solved: it usually fits snugly and does not allow the components to evaporate. Collectors of vintage fragrances should remember that after 10-15 years the top notes, most often fruity and citrus, disappear from the compositions. Accordingly, a perfume dominated by resinous, woody, animalic accords will last longer and better than others.

Earlier, "Profile" reported that ways have been discovered to quickly distinguish an original perfume from a fake. Several rules will protect you from buying a low-quality product.
