“The terrorist attack on a fuel tanker took place in Jeddah. The attack was staged using a mined boat and led to a fire that was extinguished, the accident did not lead to injury or death, as well as damage to unloading fuel and energy supplies,”- announced the Ministry of Energy of Saudi Arabia, according to local television.

It is noted that the attack came after an attack on another ship in Al-Shuqaik, an oil distribution station in northern Jeddah and a floating unloading platform for an oil distribution station in Jizan.

Earlier, the ship's captain told Al-Arabiya TV channel that one of the storage facilities was damaged by the explosion. He also stated that the tanker was probably hit from the outside, and before the attack, small boats were cruising next to the ship.

“The report, prepared by the company that owns the ship, confirms that the strike was from outside. But we do not know exactly the cause of the explosion,”the captain of the tanker stressed.

After the explosion, the Saudi Arabian authorities temporarily closed the port.

The tanker BW Rhine, located near the port of Jeddah, exploded last night. Singapore-based Hafnia said the fire was quickly extinguished. None of the ship's crew members were injured.]>
