Ivan Chuikov, a Russian conceptual artist infected with COVID-19, has died. This is reported by TASS.

Vladimir Ovcharenko, the founder of the Ovcharenko gallery, told the agency about the death of the artist. In January 2021, he planned to open an exhibition in memory of the artist.

Chuikov died on November 11 at the age of 85. On November 10, the artist's daughter Yevgeny Chuikova said on her Facebook page that her father had COVID-19 and was connected to a ventilator.

“Chuikov is a great artist. His greatness will be passed on from generation to generation,”Ovcharenko said. According to the gallery's founder, Chuikov was "an ideal role model for the younger generation of artists."

Ovcharenko announced an exhibition in memory of him on January 19. “The project is called“And a beautiful view from the window”, we will present the best works of a wonderful artist,” he promised.

Ivan Chuikov was born on May 22, 1935 in Moscow. Graduated from the Moscow State Art Institute named after Surikov. The artist's first exhibition took place in 1957 as part of the World Youth Festival in Moscow. Since 1976 he has participated in exhibitions of unofficial art. He was a member of the Sretensky Boulevard group.

Chuikov's works were kept in the collections of the Pompidou Center in Paris and the Zimmerli Art Museum in New Jersey. In recent years, the artist has lived and worked in Moscow and Cologne (Germany).
