President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko called COVID-19 a screen behind which global players are trying to remake the world in their own way. According to Lukashenka, if such plans apply to Belarus, then the republic has "serious economic potential."
“The coronavirus is just a pretext, a screen under which global players are trying to reshape the world in their own way. It is clear that they have plans in the post-Soviet space, including Belarus, - said the head of state.
“It's paradoxical. But we consider this a weighty argument. [in favor of that] that Belarus has established itself as a state, has political weight and serious economic potential, " - concluded the politician.
According to the Belarusian leader, "the world today lives in conditions of serious shocks that require analysis." "We are almost on the air watching the breakdown of the usual way of life, the immersion of the planet in a systemic crisis", - he thinks.
At the end of August, Lukashenko and Putin agreed that Belarus would become the first country to receive the Russian vaccine against coronavirus infection.
Earlier, the Belarusian leader noted that since COVID-19 more often infects people with weakened immunity, then all Belarusians need to play sports and be outdoors more. Lukashenka admitted that he himself follows this rule.
In June, the President of Belarus also reported that he had had COVID-19 without showing symptoms. According to Lukashenka, his disease was asymptomatic, like 97% of the republic's population.
The head of state previously assessed the situation around COVID-19 as psychosis, and among the methods of treatment for coronavirus he named working on a tractor, going to the bathhouse, as well as drinking vodka and butter.
A mandatory mask regime has been in effect in Minsk since November 12 - protective equipment must be worn at work, in transport and other public places in the capital of Belarus. Earlier, the mask regime was introduced in the Gomel and Mogilev regions, Brest, Polotsk, as well as in a number of universities in Minsk.
The Ministry of Health of Belarus has also developed guidelines for schools, according to which each educational institution must organize classes according to special schedules with a minimum overlap of classes with each other. When asked about quarantine, the department replied that these decisions will be made by local authorities. Officials recalled that it is possible to suspend training if 30% of students are absent - now this figure ranges from 1% to 11%.
