In the Leningrad region, they want to include the destruction of hogweed in the list of public works. They will attract, for example, non-payers of alimony. This was reported on February 8 at the press service of the regional administration. The problem of cow parsnip remains relevant for the Leningrad region

On February 8, the governor of the region Alexander Drozdenko made an unusual proposal on ways to solve it. He noted that in 2020 the action "Did not pay alimony - mow the hogweed" was successfully carried out in the Telmanovsky rural population.

"Non-payers of alimony mowed hogweed along the banks of the Izhora River, where the destruction of hogweed by chemical method is prohibited," the regional administration said.

In addition, Drozdenko instructed, within the framework of the Year of Clean Water, to consider the possibility of holding subbotniks to destroy hogweed on the banks of reservoirs where chemical treatment is prohibited.

As previously reported by IA REGNUM, in 2014 by the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, Sosnovsky's hogweed, which has filled the uncultivated fields of Central and North-Western Russia since the 1990s, was excluded from the list of agricultural crops.

In 2020, work to combat Sosnovsky's hogweed within the framework of the state program was carried out on the territory of 68 settlements in 16 districts on an area of 2,876 hectares (121% by 2019). The amount of subsidies from the regional budget amounted to 20.2 million rubles. In addition, about 10 more settlements were working at their own expense. More than 30 agricultural enterprises will also be involved in the work.
