The first symptoms of COVID-19 appear two to six days after infection. Such terms were named by the head of the department of pulmonology at Sechenov University, chief freelance pulmonologist of the Ministry of Health Sergei Avdeev, reports TASS.

He noted that the World Health Organization (WHO) believes that the incubation period for coronavirus infection lasts from two to ten days, the Ministry of Health is of the opinion that from two to 12 days. “But on average, probably 95 percent of our patients fit into the range of two to six days,” the doctor said.

Avdeev added that usually with COVID-19, the body temperature is 37.5 degrees, it occurs in 90 percent of patients. Among other frequent symptoms, he named weakness, fatigue, cough, shortness of breath, headache, sore throat.

After the first signs of the disease appear, a person is contagious for another 10-20 days, in some cases this period can increase to two months, said Vladimir Chulanov, chief freelance specialist of the Ministry of Health for infectious diseases.
