2020 turned out to be a difficult year not only for the medical services of the region, but also for rescuers, although in principle there are no easy seasons for them - such a job. We will also find out what the Kursk law enforcement agencies had to deal with

30 years of salvation and help

2020 is a special year for the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia in the Kursk Region - it turned 30 years old. On the eve of the New Year, Ivan Lunev, Head of the Main Directorate of the Russian Emergencies Ministry for the Kursk Region, summed up the results for this considerable period:

- Over 30 years, we managed to save and evacuate over 54 thousand people, provide assistance to victims of 54 thousand road accidents, extinguish over 31 thousand fires, neutralize more than 18 thousand ammunition left over from the Great Patriotic War.

And although these are just numbers, the numbers are always behind the lives saved. In total, there are 723 fire and rescue units in the Kursk region, where more than 15 thousand people serve. Among other things, there are 657 voluntary fire brigades in the region. This is the power that will surely come to the rescue at any moment.

Interestingly, this year, the first deputy of the regional security committee, Lyudmila Shatalova, announced the possible opening of a representative office of the Academy of the State Fire Service of the Ministry of Emergencies of Russia on the basis of the Kursk Polytechnic College. In the meantime, future rescuers are being trained in 80 cadet classes, where there are about 1700 pupils.

The bathing season claimed the lives of 40 kuryans

The beaches were opened on June 15 this year. There were about fifty official bathing places on the territory of the region. But accidents on the water more often occurred precisely on wild beaches, often the reason was the drinking of alcohol by the smokers. During the season, 40 people died on the water, including six children.

On the initiative of the Ombudsman for the Rights of the Child in the Kursk Region Natalya Listopadova, the head of the region signed a document on December 1, according to which children under the age of 14 will no longer be able to be on water bodies without adults. This should reduce the number of tragic cases in the future.

One of the heroes of 2020, a 16-year-old student of the Kursk school 32, Nikolai Tsukanov, was recently a child himself. The young man received the Medal "For the rescue of those dying on the waters", on June 12 he pulled a drowning woman out of the water. The same award was presented to Igor Boyko, a teacher at Svobodinskaya secondary school, who on June 10 saved a teenager on a pond. The heroes are not visible, but they walk among us …

Cafes and expensive foreign cars were on fire

The Kursk firefighters finished 2020 with a good result: thanks to competent work, fewer people die in fires. Official reports indicate that this sad figure has dropped by 20 percent. But, alas, it is still not necessary to say that the residents of Kursk are seriously thinking about their own safety issues. As in previous years, fire-fighters often went to forest fires and burning dead wood. Most often it blazed in Manturovsky, Solntsevsky, Pristensky, Kastorensky and Shchigrovsky districts. In Kursk alone, from March to October, dry grass burned 364 times and garbage 487 times, including in the Gorely Les and Solyanka Park tracts. Cars were burning, sometimes very expensive, like, for example, on November 9 - BMW on Dimitrov Street in Zheleznogorsk. And on November 29, in the center of Kursk, right on Lenin Street, a Volkswagen Passat caught fire.

However, the title "fire of the year", perhaps, deserved a fire in Pervomaisky Park at the end of January 2020. Recall that then firefighters had to work on putting out a cafe, built by the winner of the TV show "The Last Hero" Sergei Odintsov. Then, once again, the question arose about the equipment of fire services, and about the convenience of the location of individual objects, and about what pressure the city hydrants can provide. There were many questions, but it seems that no global conclusions have been drawn from what happened.

The arson in the Lgovsk colony of IK-3 was no less resonant. Recall that then a warehouse located on the territory of the correctional institution was on fire. The three most discussed fires are closed by the fire at 1st Aggregatnaya, where the fire caused significant damage to both the carpentry workshop and the cheese production workshop. The alarming glow was visible from afar, and the main versions of what happened were actively discussed on social networks.

It would be appropriate to mention those who helped to neutralize their consequences. One of the youngest fire-fighters in captivity was a 17-year-old student of the Soviet Social-Agrarian Technical School. On July 11, Dmitry Plekhanov pulled a man out of the burning house, for which he was awarded the badge “Participant in the elimination of the consequences of emergencies”. At the same time, the young man himself did not believe that he had done an outstanding act and assured that in his place anyone would have done the same.

Kuryan continued to disarm

In 2020, employees and servicemen of the Russian Guard carried out over 850 special operations, detained four dozen suspects of crimes. 5700 times the non-departmental security went out on the signal of "alarm", thanks to which it was possible to prevent a large number of offenses. Also, the location of 65 wanted people was established, of whom six were searched not only in our region, but throughout the country.

The possession of personal weapons by citizens is always a matter for discussion, after all, we do not live in the United States, where this is the norm. But the Kursk scale also makes you think - the Kurds keep 53 thousand weapons. And this is only official. But this year, 800 guns and pistols were seized by the Russian Guard, and about 460 permits and licenses were canceled. 200 conscientious citizens voluntarily surrendered their weapons.

Tram and Monument Accidents

The loudest was the accident, the culprit of which was at that time - the head of the criminal investigation department Oleg Goldinov. A collision with a parked Gazelle took place on November 20 on Suvorovskaya Street in Kursk. Everything would be fine, but the driver who was drawing up the protocol was not only insulted by the driver, but also hit - at least three times. After the incident was made public, Goldinov was dismissed from the police. Now he is trying to reverse this decision and regain his position through the courts. In addition, he claims to pay for his "forced absence" and compensation for moral damage.

The Kurds actively discussed the collision of an intercity bus with a passenger car near the village of Selikhovy Dvory. It happened on August 15, the bus was traveling from Belgorod to Smolensk.

And on October 28, a German SUV Volkswagen from the Volgograd region crashed into a monument to the Heroes of the Battle of Kursk in Kursk. Shortly before that, in the same place, on Dzerzhinsky Square, the Tatra T6B5 tram derailed.

The fighters and the excitement of the peaceful atom

The automatic shutdown of power unit 3 at the nuclear power plant in Kurchatov made the people of Kurchatov worry. A similar incident, incidentally, occurred on November 24 not only in the Kursk region, but also at the nuclear power plant in Volgodonsk. However, on November 27, KuNPP started operating at full capacity.

An unusual informational occasion appeared on October 1 in the local and federal media, when, due to the appearance of an unidentified private plane in the Kursk sky, fighters were raised on alarm from a military airfield near Kursk. The violator was forced to board after repeated demands. The 62-year-old pilot was detained by law enforcement officers. As it turned out, the Cessna aircraft did not have a mandatory registration in the civil aviation registry.
