Shanon Kent, 23, bought a multi-tone color lightener for £ 12 from a local beauty store, Superdrug. Before using, she tested for an allergic reaction on her hand, but after applying the product to her head, Kent felt an unpleasant burning sensation.

The woman washed off the dye ten minutes after use, although the manufacturer recommends keeping it on her hair for 30 minutes.

“My head was itching and it was impossible to breathe because of the strong smell. I decided to wash off the toner and the hair began to fall out in clumps. During the combing, the loss continued,”said the victim.

As a result, Kent lost 400 grams of her hair and almost went bald. During repeated testing of the product in the laboratory, no violations were identified. The company gave the woman 30 pounds (about 2,400 rubles) to buy funds from their store as a compliment, but did not admit its guilt.

The mother of two children said that the money allocated by the manufacturer does not cover the moral damage caused to her. For the past three months, she has been feeling depressed and has not left the house without a wig.

“They do not take any responsibility upon themselves, but they make me guilty - this is unacceptable. I had to see a doctor to prescribe ointments for my damaged scalp. I'm not going to use the amount they sent me to buy in their store,”said the Englishwoman.

In December 2019, Julie Yakub dyed her hair at home and was admitted to the hospital. A few days after the procedure, the woman's skin began to itch and she consulted a doctor. He prescribed her drugs for allergies, but over the next day, Yakub's head continued to swell, and by morning she could no longer open her eyes. Doctors admitted her to the hospital for three weeks and treated her with antibiotics.
