The court sentenced 23-year-old resident of South Carolina (USA) Seth Aaron Fleury to 12 years in prison for biting off the lower lip of his former lover Kayla Hayes. At the trial, the man said that he wanted to "leave a mark on her."
Hayes and Fleury started dating in 2016. The girl was then 17 years old, the guy - 21. A year later, Kayla left the young man - he, according to her, treated her as his property.
A few weeks after the spat, Hayes and Fleury met. The guy offered to start dating again and tried to kiss the girl. When she began to unlock, he bit off part of her lower lip.
“I never thought he was capable of such a thing. I didn't expect him to bite my lip off. I felt nothing but pain. I started screaming and crying. He grabbed my hair and banged my head against the door,”Hayes recalls. Kayla after surgery / facebook.com
The girl was forced to undergo plastic surgery. The surgeon had to literally shrink her face and cheeks to connect the remnants of her lower lip. Hayes's mimicry was significantly reduced, and there were visible scars around her mouth.
“They make me feel insecure. It is very difficult, especially for a young girl. Part of me died after being attacked by my ex-boyfriend, but now I know that I have become stronger,”said Kayla.

After surgery and rehabilitation, the girl began dating her friend Blake, who supported her in the hospital.
“Even when I was covered with stitches, he said that I was beautiful. He showed me that not all guys are like my ex,”the injured girl concluded.
