Two residents of the Orenburg region decided to lose weight and ordered a weight loss drug online that contained sibutramine, a potent substance whose circulation is limited in Russia. The court found both guilty of smuggling potent substances. This was reported today by the press service of the Ural Transport Prosecutor's Office. One of the women was detained by customs officers while receiving a parcel at the delivery service department. By a court decision, one of the Orenburg women was sentenced to one and a half years of restraint of freedom conditionally, and the second would have to serve a year and a half in a general regime colony.

General regime colonies are divided into an industrial zone, where production facilities are located, and a residential zone with "barracks" dormitories, a canteen, a medical unit, a punishment cell and other institutions. Modern colonies often have churches, usually rooms for short (2 to 4 hours) and long (1 to 3 days) visits. During the day, in their free time from work and activities, prisoners have the right to leave the hostel in the "local zone", and to move around the rest of the territory is allowed only in formation with the permission of the administration.

The Council of Europe (CoE) noted that Russia has the most populated places of deprivation of liberty in comparison with European countries. The death rate among prisoners is also the highest. Human rights activists believe that the number of sentences to real terms in Russia should be reduced, and the funds saved on the maintenance of colonies should be directed to improving the conditions of detention of prisoners.
