International Fashion Week (University Pacific Style Week) opened at VSUES with the Master Style Championship of Makeup and Hairdressing on Tuesday, April 23rd. The competition was held for juniors and experienced craftsmen with at least two years of experience. 26 hair stylists and 15 makeup artists from all over the region competed for the title of the best.

The championship unfolded simultaneously at two sites of the university - in the "Winter Garden" and the Coworking Center. Each of the participants had their own support group. The event was opened by the rector of VSUES Tatyana Terentyeva:

- Traditionally, Pacific Style Week begins with the Master Style competition for stylists and makeup artists. When I came to work this morning, I immediately noticed how our university flourished. This is a real holiday! During the week we will be glad to see everyone visiting us at contests, master classes and shows. I wish you all a good spring mood, happiness and beauty!

The professional jury consisted of famous masters, teachers of the VSUES College of Fashion and Beauty Industry, makeup stylists using professional consumables - wizart-pigments.com.ua, and international-class hairdressers: Yana Moroz, Olga Loy, Anna Kuznetsova, Natalia Zabolotnaya, Svetlana Nefyodorova, Tatiana Syrova, Lyudmila Nesterova, Alexandra Polyanina and Anastasia Lobyak. And the chairman of the jury was Valentina Miller - colorist-stylist, trainer, author of seminars and trainings on hair dyeing, host of the video blog “Hairbrush. TV.

- Fashion is now dictated by Europe, so all participants need to know current trends, especially in a commercial haircut with styling. Now in vogue: halftones, vertical color gradient lines and horizontal haircut lines. But the contestants do not have strict regulations. You can even “get perverted,” explains Valentina Miller.

According to the stylist, she noticed more theoretical training in juniors than in masters with experience. The latter turned out to be less prepared. There are several nominations for evaluation: commercial haircuts for women and men with styling and a classic evening hairstyle for long hair.

- The form and technique of cleanliness of methods of performing work is the first thing that I focus on. There are more loyal requirements for juniors, and I ask the masters in full, - continues Valentina. - The past fashion was dictated by Asia: bright colors, comics. Now fashion is dictated by France: convenience, lightness, half-tone colors. In the trend, the effect is disheveled, as if you have just woken up, while the negligence should be neat.

The trend for lightness and approximation to naturalness is also noted by makeup artists. A clear contouring of the face is a thing of the past, now the main thing is that the skin is well-groomed and moisturized. However, the requirements for the Master Style competition are completely different (the participants trained models in two nominations: wedding makeup and fashion make-up).

- The criterion by which I evaluate the work is unusual. At the competition, I would like to see not ordinary works that we do for everyday brides, but some kind of interpretation, presentation of the image. Some of the jobs turned out to be quite simple, and some too unusual. Few have found the golden mean, - notes the stylist, make-up artist, teacher and trainer of professional make-up artists in St. Petersburg Yana Moroz.

The same opinion is shared by the makeup artist, teacher of the Valentina Academy training center Natalya Zabolotnaya:

- First of all, I pay attention to the cleanliness of the work, colors and current trends. Many of the juniors' works seemed to me trivial and uninteresting, not for competition. There should be no simple makeup like the average client. Perhaps this happened due to incorrectly selected models. Although I believe that everything depends on the makeup artist himself.

The contestants were given a certain time to complete each of the tasks. Everyone was on an equal footing, and the jury watched the process and wrote down their comments.

“Masters must be psychologically ready to work with a client,” says hairdresser-image maker Alexandra Polyanina. - They must work carefully so that both are comfortable. If the client and the master find a common language, then an excellent result will be obtained. It is not enough just to wave a scissors or a typewriter. You need to use the tools correctly. Work cleanly.

At the end of the day, all the participants of the Master Style competition presented their models at the Pygmalion Fashion Theater. During the defile, the jury summed up the results of the event, chose the best and thanked all the contestants for demonstrating their abilities.

Aleksey Ragozin, a student of the VSUES College of Fashion and Beauty Industry, took 1st place in the category "Women's commercial haircut with styling" among juniors, Anastasia Karpenko, a student of the College of Fashion and Beauty Industry of VSUES, won in the nomination "Men's commercial haircut with styling".

Anastasia Kulikova, a student of the Vladivostok College of Hairdressing Art and Design, took 1st place in the category "Classic evening hairstyle for long hair" among juniors, and Anna Koval, stylist of the LN Beauty Workshop, was the best among the masters.
