The Chechen opposition telegram channel 1ADAT has published statistics on abductions of people by law enforcement officials in Chechnya. It follows from it that the number of those who disappeared under such circumstances from April to October this year reached 1511 people.

In October, 72 people were abducted. Among them are a police officer, a judge, relatives of militants killed during a special operation in Grozny on October 12, and relatives of opposition blogger Said-Khusein Magomadov, Kavkaz. Realii writes. In the same month, Magomadov's relatives recorded a video message in which they cursed him for criticizing the "noble padishah" Ramzan Kadyrov.

In September, 53 people were kidnapped, including Salman Tepsurkayev, a former chat moderator on 1ADAT. He was forced to record an apology video, and was forced to undress and sit down while recording on a bottle. The abducted also included relatives of the head of the Ichkeria government in exile, Akhmed Zakayev, a critic of the Chechen authorities, known as Murad from Austria, and Zarema, the wife of the murdered blogger Mamikhan Umarov (Anzor from Vienna).

The number of abductions in August was 144; in July - 35, in June - 30, in May - 537, in April - 640. The large numbers of the spring months are explained by activists by the fact that there was a self-isolation regime in connection with the coronavirus pandemic and the security forces detained everyone who, in their opinion, violated this regime.

As a representative of the telegram channel 1ADAT told the "Kavkaz. Realii" correspondent, statistics are formed on the basis of messages received from relatives and friends of the abducted. Information about their number and personalities is also verified through the security forces themselves, secretly transmitting information to 1ADAT, the interlocutor claims.

"For example, a police officer tells us that such and such a number of people were unofficially brought to his station, but he cannot find out their details, because it is dangerous for him. We put this number on our lists. For example, ten guys were kidnapped yesterday. We have entered the statistics into the statistics, but we cannot find out the data, because the relatives are silent, and of the policemen, only those on duty know, and they are at gunpoint, "the channel's representative said.

In September in Chechnya, after an unsuccessful operation that ended in the death of an elderly patient, surgeon Salakh Dagayev was abducted and beaten to death. The sister of one of the associates of the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, turned out to be dead on his operating table.

The Human Rights Center "Memorial" reported about the abduction by the security forces of seven residents of the Chechen village of Chechen-Aul. In August they were taken to a secret prison in Grozny and tortured. As it became known to human rights activists, four were then released, three are still in custody.

Movsar Umarov, a father of three young children, was abducted in July at his workplace in a restaurant in the center of Grozny. His relatives found him at the Leninsky District ROVD the next day. The police said that he came to the attention of the security forces because he "listened to Tumso" - the opposition Chechen blogger Tumso Abdurakhmanov. Umarov's relatives still do not know if he is alive.
