The number of people infected with coronavirus in Crimea over the past day was 86, less than 100 cases were detected on the peninsula for the first time since October 2, 2020. Such data was published on Monday on the VKontakte page by the head of Crimea Sergey Aksenov.

"On February 21, 86 cases of coronavirus infection were registered on the territory of the Republic of Crimea, including eight cases with an asymptomatic course of the disease. Of the total number of cases, 59 were detected when seeking medical help, 27 were among the contacts for previously registered cases," Aksenov wrote.

During the day, 2,749 people were tested. "The number of people who recovered per day is 15 people, who recovered over the entire period - 31,004 people," the head of the republic said.

Since the beginning of the pandemic in Crimea, more than 35 thousand cases of infection have been identified. The increase in the number of infections began in October and continued in December. The first batch of 500 doses of the Sputnik V vaccine arrived in Crimea on December 8, and on January 18, they announced the start of mass vaccination. The rate of infection spread has slowed down, with less than 200 new cases per day recorded in January for the first time since November. The Crimean authorities are preparing to lift restrictions related to the pandemic from March 1. The work of food courts and nightclubs has already been allowed, but mass events are prohibited until spring.
