In total, during the volcanic eruption on December 9 on the White Island in New Zealand, 20 tourists died, and another 26 were injured. Americans, Australians, Germans, Chinese, British suffered - the trouble was international. The Browitt family came to the island on a tourist liner - the family was looking forward to this trip. The girl's mother remained on board, while her father Paul and sister Crystal joined Stephanie and went on an expedition to the island. The volcanic eruption began unexpectedly. The girl's 21-year-old sister died immediately, and she and her father were taken to the hospital. Paul fought for his life for a long time, but on January 12, 2020, he died. Only recently did she return home from the rehabilitation center and again hugged her friends and her beloved dog. Now she is forced to hide the fragile regenerating and transplanted skin of her hands behind gloves, and her face behind a balaclava.

The legs below the knee and the outer thighs of Stephanie were almost completely burned out. She could not walk and was bedridden for months before she learned to walk again. It is very difficult for her to move her arms, and she needs help even to open the bottle.
It's good that the jacket saved my arms above the wrists. There are only minor burns on my elbows because I tried to lie on the burning ground.
