The Moscow City Duma deputies at a plenary session on Wednesday supported the installation of a monument to Marshal of the Soviet Union Alexander Vasilevsky in the park at the intersection of Frunzenskaya Embankment and 1st Frunzenskaya Street. This was announced during a meeting of the capital's parliament, its chairman Alexei Shaposhnikov.
"The resolution was adopted, in paragraph 95 of the list of proposals for the construction of works of monumental and decorative art of urban meaning, the words" Bolshoi Znamensky Lane, near the building of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation (Khamovniki) "will be replaced by the words" in the park at the intersection of Frunzenskaya Embankment and 1st Frunzenskaya Street (Khamovniki) ", - said Shaposhnikov.
Earlier, members of the Moscow City Duma Commission on Monumental Art and members of the Moscow City Duma Commission on Culture and Mass Communications supported the installation of the monument. The production and installation of the monument will be carried out at the expense of the all-Russian public-state organization "Russian Military-Historical Society". The winner of the creative competition was the project of the architect A. V. Bely and sculptor A. D. Chebanenko. "I think a worthy place has been found to perpetuate the memory of the outstanding commander - in the park at the intersection of Frunzenskaya Embankment and 1st Frunzenskaya Street, earlier the issue was positively considered at a meeting of the Commission on Monumental Art," Shaposhnikov commented on the decision of the deputies to TASS.
As the chairman of the Moscow City Duma commission on culture and mass communications Yevgeny Gerasimov said during the meeting, the proposal on the place of erection of the monument to Marshal of the Soviet Union A. M. Vasilevsky received from the First Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation Valery Gerasimov. “I wish everyone to see the erection of this monument on the 5th,” said Deputy Gerasimov. He clarified to TASS that the installation of the monument will take place in December.
