Participation in "Titanic" brought Kate Winslet not only great success and a second Oscar nomination, but also had a negative side. In particular, after the release of the famous film by James Cameron, the actress became a target for all British tabloids, who criticized her for her appearance and made stinging jokes. The 45-year-old star spoke about this in Mark Maron's WTF podcast:
“After the premiere of Titanic, I immediately switched to self-defense mode. Everything changed instantly, literally in one day. The British press was very unfriendly: I was extremely incorrectly criticized for my appearance. To be completely honest, I had a constant feeling as if I was being humiliated. I remember thinking how terrible everything was, hoping that it would soon pass. Then, of course, it passed. But it was then that I felt the underside of fame. At that time, I was not ready to become famous. Definitely not."
Now Winslet has teamed up with Cameron again. The singer will appear in the sequel to Avatar, which will be released in December 2022, and will soon go to the shooting in the film adaptation of the same name by Jen McAdam and Douglas Thompson's novel "Fake", which will be directed by Scott Z. Burns, writer of "Contagion".
