Greenhouses of the State Budgetary Institution "Ozelenenie" have grown about 5 million tulips for the International Women's Day. This was reported by the press service of the Moscow Department of Housing and Communal Services.
“Lilac, yellow, crimson, red and white tulips are grown in the greenhouses of the Ozelenenie State Budgetary Institution. This year, about 5 million pieces were prepared for the holiday. The bulbs were planted in December and January. By the end of February, the buds had already formed and began to gain color,”the message says.
Experts recommend buying tulips with a closed bud, even an incomplete degree of coloring is allowed. To keep the bouquet in the vase for more than three to four days, you can remove the extra leaves at the bottom of the stem, so the water stays fresh longer.
“If the tulips were bought in advance, it is best to store them in the refrigerator. A suitable temperature is from plus 1 to plus 3 degrees. The bouquet itself must be completely wrapped in thick paper so that no light penetrates inside. So the bouquet can stand for two to three weeks, retaining its original freshness. The main thing is that all this time the flowers are in an upright position, since even cut tulips continue to grow, which means that the buds can bend, tending upward if they lie, the words of the deputy head of the Ulyanovsk production department of the Ozelenenie state budgetary institution are quoted in the message Svetlana Fitisova.
