Very soon, a new film directed by Alexei Uchitel "Matilda" will be released on the screens of cinemas - a story about the love of the last Russian emperor Nicholas II and the ballerina Matilda Kshesinskaya.
An unprecedented excitement has been boiling around the film for a long time - someone blames the picture for distorting historical reality, someone admires the scale of the filming and an interesting idea.
We do not undertake to judge who is right in this confrontation, but tell only objective facts: how the outstanding cast prepared for the filming of one of the most high-profile historical films in Russia.
The main role in the film was played by Polish actress Michalina Olshanskaya. By the age of 24, she had a lot of achievements on her account - since childhood, Mikhalina studied music and even performed as a soloist with a symphony orchestra, graduated from the theater academy, and is now actively acting in films. Mikhalina also writes books - the girl has already published two novels in Polish.
At the casting of the Teacher, Olshanskaya completely bypassed about 300 actresses, getting the role of Matilda. Nevertheless, in order to transform into the image of her heroine, the actress had to work hard. In St. Petersburg, Mikhalina mastered ballet and studied Russian. In the film, viewers will see the result of her efforts - 32 fouettés on the stage of the Mariinsky Theater. After all, it was Matilda Kshesinskaya who was the first of the Russian ballerinas to perform this dance element with so many turns.
By the way, all the choreography in the film was directed by Alexei Miroshnichenko, the chief choreographer of the Perm Opera and Ballet Theater. The filming also involved about seventy artists of this theater, as well as students of the Perm Choreographic School.
Other actors also had a chance to go through trials during filming. Danila Kozlovsky had to learn to be under water without air. Everything within the plot - the actor embodied the image of officer Vorontsov, a passionate admirer of Matilda Kshesinskaya, who was treated in this way for a pernicious passion. Kozlovsky performed all the stunts in the film on his own, for this scene he specially trained in the pool.
Ingeborga Dapkunaite was no easier: the magnificent outfits of the mother-empress, of course, amaze with their wealth and splendor, but they laid a heavy burden on the shoulders of the actress. One crown in this ensemble weighed at least one and a half kilograms! So on the set, not only her acting talent, but also physical strength and endurance came in handy. Ingeborga says that she goes in for sports every day - every morning she starts exercising, lifts weights, loves walking and outdoor activities. And before especially active performances, the actress must warm up.
Until now, rumors and speculations are multiplying around "Matilda", since the shooting of the film was closed.
