Traditionally, on the eve of the New Year, Pantone announced the color of the upcoming year: in 2018 it will be a bright purple (Ultra Violet). The company describes it as "a dramatically provocative and thoughtful purple hue that reflects originality, ingenuity and foresight."
Pantone is a recognized authority on color, his institute conducts research, after which it presents a palette of the most relevant shades for the coming year, as well as the main color. In 2016 it was lilac and pale pink, in 2017 it was natural green.
