The Governor of the Sverdlovsk Region, Yevgeny Kuyvashev, extended the restrictions on coronavirus in the region until November 9. He also changed the order of attending public events, recommended switching to distance learning for universities and extending school holidays.
As stated in the document published on the regional portal of legal information, from October 27, all physical culture and sports competitions in closed premises will be held without spectators. Competitions in open areas will continue to be held with 50% capacity, Uralinformburo reports.
The head of the region recommended increasing the duration of the autumn holidays for schoolchildren to 14 days. Students were originally supposed to return to their desks on November 2. Once extended, they will end on November 8th.
Another point of the decree concerns universities and professional educational organizations. They were asked to switch from October 27 "to the mode of using distance educational technologies and e-learning."
In addition, self-isolation for people aged 65+ and citizens with chronic diseases has been extended until November 9.
To date, 34,782 cases of COVID-19 have been identified in the region, 743 people have died.
