An exclusive party was held in Paris to mark the launch of the new pairing fragrance Avon Life Color, created in collaboration with renowned designer Kenzo Takada.
For several days, Parisians could watch a bright flash mob with dozens of dancers in colorful #SetYourColoursFree costumes, repeating in different parts of the city. The invited guests attended a gala reception at Kenzo Takada's Rive Gauche, and also visited the laboratory of Firmenich, one of the world's largest perfume houses, where the fragrances were created.
The most anticipated surprise was the #SetYourColoursFree star party on the occasion of the official presentation of Avon Life Color fragrances. The event took place at the famous French restaurant Le Mini Palais. The event was attended by more than 500 guests, among whom were world stars: actor Pierre Richard and model Ines de La Fressange, Brazilian actress Bruna Markesin, Russian TV presenters Maria Ivakova and Anton Lavrentyev, Polish presenter Malgorzata Rozenek-Maidan, famous designers Chantal Thomas and Alexandra Zuari, famous French actresses Anushka Delon and Juliet Besson and contemporary artist Ali Mahdavi. Cosmo was able to personally communicate with perfume guru Kenzo Takada and ask him a few questions about the new fragrances for AVON.
Cosmo: What inspired you to create a new pairing fragrance for Avon?
Kenzo Takada: I've always wanted to be a designer or artist. I love to paint, I love to play with colors. When my very first fragrance came out in 1970, colors did not dominate fashion and I was looking for a personal style for my brand. Then I made the decision to "return to my roots" and brought colorful textiles from Japan. I know that at the time it was something revolutionary. Kimonos in Japan come in many colors and different types of illustrations. And since colors have played a very important role in my career, for the Avon Life Color line, I tried to bring a touch of freshness, positive stability, structure, mixing various colorful ingredients created by nature itself. To create the fragrances, down to the smallest detail, we worked together with the great masters of their craft, perfumers Frank Foeckl and Olivier Cresp, whom I admire. We worked hard until we got the structure and the desired result. In fact, I myself use the masculine scent of this line.
Cosmo: What is the difference between the new Avon fragrances and the ones created earlier?
K. T.: After the great success of Avon Life in 2016, we have new plans for cooperation. Avon Life Color is a very special perfume, the difference is that it reflects joy. For about two years we have been working on this project with very talented people from Avon and Firmenich. I wanted to create a more "step" scent: fresh, positive, energizing and very colorful. We started our work as if you started painting on a blank canvas, adding shapes and colors to create a special piece of art. It was important to find the right balance and get a product that expresses a subtle vision. I am extremely proud of the result and hope that the new fragrance will bring people the good mood and joy that we all need so much.
Cosmo: Nowadays, it is very popular to use natural ingredients in the production of perfumery products, which in turn are replacing the production using synthetic ingredients. What do you prefer: synthetic or natural product?
KT: It's obvious that I would focus on using natural ingredients. But it is worth noting that some synthetic substances are absolutely harmless, they only improve the perfume, in terms of quality and smell. Sometimes, using only natural ingredients can make the scent look a little distant or very weak or unstable. I am not against the use of synthetic substances, to one degree or another, as long as they do not harm anyone, both in the short term of use and with long-term use.
