Popular Russian blogger Valentin Petukhov, known as Wylsacom, said that 2020 "played a plus" for him. In an interview for the YouTube channel "Editorial", he called the year one of the most successful financially.
“Oddly enough, the crisis that hit everyone and we also hurt, in terms of the number of advertising contracts, money, it certainly played a plus,” explained Petukhov. He added that he was able to use the existing restrictions "to his advantage."
In particular, the blogger said that due to the cancellation of events, he managed to save a lot of money on travel. “Today we can say that the 20th year is one of the most successful, if you count in money,” concluded Petukhov.
In July last year, the Adindex portal predicted impoverishment for Russian YouTube bloggers. It was argued that the market volume from January to August 2020 was 20 percent less than it was in the same period last year. Advertising revenues of bloggers for the specified period decreased by 600 million rubles.
In October, Forbes magazine published a rating of the richest YouTube bloggers in Russia. The main criterion for its compilation was the income from advertising that bloggers place on their channels. Petukhov took second place in the ranking. His income was estimated at $ 3.41 million.
