As part of the partnership project, Seversky Pipe Plant has already shipped 5 million tons of continuously cast billets to Sinarsky colleagues. The enterprise has its own electric arc furnace shop, where steel is cast into blooms with a diameter of up to 360 mm. The presence of two main units for out-of-furnace steel processing (UKP and vacuum unit) allows us to produce a wide range of pipe steel grades, including those with stringent requirements for nitrogen and hydrogen content. The capacity of the ESPC is 950 thousand tons of blooms, which is excessive for STZ, the pipe-rolling shop of which is capable of consuming only 550 thousand tons of billets.
Excess blooms are sent to third-party consumers, including Sinarsky Pipe Plant. The enterprise does not have its own steel-making facilities, therefore, two pipe-rolling shops T-2 and T-3 are forced to work on imported billets, producing seamless hot-deformed pipes from alloyed and carbon steel grades. SinTZ annually consumes about 450 thousand tons of blooms from STZ, producing products with a diameter of 33 to 146 mm on two injection molding machines.

Such cooperation between metallurgists from Polevskoy and Sinarsky Pipe Plant is quite understandable. Both enterprises are part of one of the leaders of the Russian pipe market, the Pipe Metallurgical Company. They began to cooperate in 2006, when a bloom caster was launched in Seversk. Now supplies to Sinarsky pipe-rolling companies have become regular, which allows TMK to organize the vertical integration of its assets, as well as to reduce the cost of high-margin oil and gas pipes.
