MOSCOW, May 21 - RIA Novosti. Frequent visits to the tanning salon are dangerous and can threaten the development of malignant formations on the skin, the risk of which increases by 75%, said on Tuesday the head of the working group for the diagnosis and treatment of melanoma of the scalp and neck of the National Medical Research Center of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation Andrei Polyakov during a press conference at the MIA "Russia Today", dedicated to the Day of Melanoma Diagnostics.

"The solarium, of course, affects the increase in the incidence of melanoma. There were studies where two groups were evaluated - these were young women who did not have a solarium, and where it was used. It turned out that the incidence of melanoma is 75%, which is a huge figure., increased in the group where the solarium was used. Moreover, of course, you need to know what the intensity is, the technical quality. Therefore, we, of course, call for limiting the use of the solarium, it is dangerous, "Polyakov said.

The expert also urged women, before going to a beautician, to be sure to visit the oncologist's office to obtain permission for cosmetic procedures related to skin neoplasms.

"I would like to urge people, especially women, that when you go to a beautician to treat any neoplasm on the skin, first go to the oncologist and get permission from him. This will protect you from a number of possible problems and, if all is well, then you can do whatever you like, "- said Polyakov.

The expert also added that existing cosmetology technologies, including laser ones, do not affect the change of nevus (moles) into a malignant form, however, they are contraindicated in those whose melanoma has already been cured or exists at the moment.
