The photographs of the Orthodox cross on the grave of satirist Mikhail Zhvanetsky are an example of an unsuccessful shooting. In fact, a wooden symbol of Christianity stands at the burial place of the artistic director of the Sovremennik Theater Galina Volchek and just got into the frame. Representatives of the late satirist reported this in an interview with the Daily Storm.

“First, we have freedom of religion. And secondly, the cross - this is the grave of Galina Volchek, next to it. <…> You need to come to the grave, to the cemetery, bow to Zhvanetsky and see " - said the source of the Daily Storm.

Another assistant to the writer noted that "the grave of Zhvanetsky and Volchek head to head" and the photographs misled the public. She also admitted that she was not aware of the plans of the Zhvanetsky family to erect a monument at his grave.

On November 9, the funeral of Mikhail Zhvanetsky took place at the Novodevichy cemetery. Photos of the satirist's grave were published on the Web, and the head of the Russian Jewish Congress (RJC), Yuri Kanner, expressed surprise at the appearance of a Christian symbol at the burial site of the writer and artist. Kanner also recalled that Zhvanetsky was a practicing Jew.

Zhvanetsky died on November 6 at the age of 87. The presidents of Russia and Ukraine, colleagues of Zhvanetsky and his friends expressed their condolences on the death of the famous artist. So, the poet and friend of the satirist Vadim Zhuk called Zhvanetsky one of the founders of the modern Russian language. Comedian Vladimir Vinokur said that a real Russian citizen passed away.

In early October 2020, it became known that Zhvanetsky had completed his concert activity due to the unfavorable epidemiological situation in the country, as well as due to age.
