In one of the materials, I have already told you about my favorite makeup brushes. But it is important to understand that the lifespan of any brush and your safety depend on proper cleaning.

Wash your brushes gently

It is necessary to wash the brushes carefully, not allowing water to flow into the ferula, that is, the pile should look down, and the stream of water should fall exclusively on the villi.

Use special tools

Brushes are washed not just with water, but with a solution with the addition of special products. This can be shampoo or brush cleanser. At Shik Studio, we use not quite standard, but effective products: 6-in-1 G&H Protect soap from Amway and Pro Classics Color Concentrated Cleansing Shampoo from L'Oreal Professionnel. They are great for removing oily film from brushes!

It is important for professional makeup artists to wash their brushes every week. Some masters clean their brushes after each make-up, but I note that this reduces their wear resistance and affects the quality of the pile. If you only use brushes at home, you can limit yourself to washing once a month.

Be gentle with goat hair brushes

I will share my personal beauty hack. I wash my goat hair brushes with hair shampoo and then apply conditioner or a mask to them. As a result, the pile becomes incredibly soft!

Dry brushes in a ventilated area

Place the brushes at an angle so that the liquid does not penetrate the ferrule and the pile lies as if outside the table surface. Airing the room will help speed up the drying process.

Express cleansing

The perfect express treatment for me is the SHIKBrush cleaning wipes. It's fast and safe and you can always keep your napkins close at hand. They are made of a special material that absorbs dirt, are suitable for all types of bristles and can remove even thick, oily textures from the brush. If you're not a professional makeup artist, this is especially true when traveling.
