Actor Mikhail Efremov, sentenced to seven and a half years in the case of a fatal road accident, was transferred from the SIZO-5 "Vodnik" to a colony. The address of the place of serving the sentence has not yet been reported, later it will be announced to one of the artist's relatives. This was stated in the press service of the Federal Penitentiary Service in Moscow.

«Convicted Mikhail Olegovich Efremov sent to the place of serving his sentence», - noted in the press service of the Federal Penitentiary Service.

It is noted that, in accordance with Article 75 of the Criminal Executive Code of the Russian Federation, the administration of the SIZO will inform one of the relatives of the convict's choice where he was sent to serve his sentence.

Earlier, Marina Litvinovich, a member of the Public Monitoring Commission (POC), said that Efremov wants to serve his sentence in the economic detachment of SIZO-5 in Moscow, and not in the colony. According to the human rights activist, the conditions in the pre-trial detention center are better and almost 100% of those working in the economic brigade are released on parole.

POC executive secretary Alexei Melnikov also noted that the actor wanted to create a prison theater on the basis of the SIZO-5 club.

An accident involving Efremov occurred on the evening of June 8 in Moscow. The actor's SUV drove into the oncoming lane at high speed, where it collided with a van. The injured driver Sergei Zakharov died in hospital. Efremov himself was not injured.

The court found Efremov guilty of violating traffic rules while intoxicated, resulting in the death of a person. According to the judge, Efremov's correction is impossible without isolation from society. The actor was also deprived of his driver's license for a period of three years and compensated the moral damage to the victims. The relatives of the deceased courier's family recognized the court's verdict as fair.
