Strongman Mikhail Shivlyakov overcame 436 kg in deadlift. This is a new world record in the master category (40+ years). 40-year-old strongman from Omsk Mikhail Shivlyakov made his second attempt to set a world record in deadlift in the category of masters (40+ years) live.
The event took place as part of the second season of Feats of Strength, a worldwide online competition series organized by World's Ultimate Strongman. And the athletes were judged by an experienced referee, the most titled strongman of our time, Zydrunas Savickas.
Recall that during the first season, the world record in deadlift in the master category was recorded at around 430 kg. But later its owner - the Irishman James Hickey - broke his own record, and he was 435 kg. To surpass the champion, Mikhail had to overcome the weight of at least 436 kg.
- Despite the fact that this is my second online performance, I still cannot say with confidence that I am used to this format. But now I already have some experience, I will use it for the benefit of the future result. I set myself the task of breaking the world record in the category of masters by at least 1 kg, pulling 436 kg. And I will put all my physical and moral strength into this in order to please my relatives, fans, and, of course, to realize my goal, - Mikhail said before the performance.
Along with Shivlyakov, the strongest man in Estonia Rauno Heinla and the Russian strongman Ivan Makarov took part in the project.
Foreign commentators of the competition called Omsk the most charming strongman. They noted that even though Mikhail does not speak English very well, he always tries to communicate with other athletes at competitions. He is very friendly, always trying to entertain people, therefore he is a favorite of the public.
Already during the first attempt at 410 kg, Shivlyakov started bleeding from his nose, such a serious load is received by the athlete's body. But as experts note, this is a normal phenomenon for such competitions. Mikhail confidently lifted the weight, and experts noted that he still had "a lot of gasoline" in order to set a new record for strong men over the age of 40.
The well-known strongman Haftor Björnsson (the performer of the role of the Mountain in the TV series "Game of Thrones") watched the performance of the Omsk.
- I think that Mikhail is capable of breaking the record. I have competed with this guy for many years, and he has fortitude. He is a beast, and I believe in him, - said the Icelander before the second attempt of Omsk.
Shivlyakov with difficulty, but managed to break the world record.
- It was crazy. The man gave all 100% of the strength that he had, - the commentators noted. - How he trembles, blood gushes from his nose! What an uplift! It was impressive! Oh my God! Shivlyakov proved how strong his spirit is. Someone else would probably have given up and thrown the barbell. But Mikhail, with his experience, overcame himself.
- Finally, I managed to cope with this task, which was not possible in the first season of Feats of Strength. First of all, I managed to do this thanks to the organizers who gave me such an opportunity, my team and all those who supported me. This preparation was more difficult than the previous one.
