Oppositionist Sergei Dylevsky said that for the first time he hears about the creation of a new Coordinating Council (CC) of Belarus, the appearance of which in an interview with the German magazine Der Spiegel was previously told by the writer and Nobel laureate Svetlana Aleksievich. Later, a member of the Presidium of the Coordination Council denied the information about the creation of a new body. Dylewski also noted that the previously formed opposition council is working as usual.
«I have about it [creating a new COP] no information. The coordinating council is working as usual», - said Dylevsky RIA Novosti. He added that this is the first time he has heard about the creation of a new council.
The writer Svetlana Aleksievich first told the German magazine Der Spiegel that the opposition in Belarus had created a new Coordination Council. According to her, the past organ of the opposition is no longer there. She did not tell about who is part of the new association.
“There is no longer a coordinating council for the opposition. Its members were or are in prison, or were expelled from the country, or fled. A new council has been created, the names of its members are kept secret for their protection. Communication is conducted through social networks , - shared the Nobel laureate with Der Spiegel.
Later, Aleksievich, in an interview with Radio Liberty, denied the message about the organization of a new opposition body, calling the information that had appeared "stupidity."
“This is stupidity, it is not at all true. Many new people are signing up to the Coordination Council, there is a governing body there. Our entire movement continues to work. And new people appeared there, like Bogretsov. And other people enter there, but their names are not announced , - noted a member of the Presidium of the Coordination Council.
In August, the headquarters of ex-presidential candidate Svetlana Tikhanovskaya announced the creation of the Opposition Coordination Council - "a political body that will take over the process of the peaceful transfer of power."
At the end of August, a criminal case was opened in Belarus in connection with the creation by the headquarters of the Tikhanov Coordination Council of the Opposition - under Article 361 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus. According to this article, for public calls for the seizure of state power, the term of imprisonment can be from two to five years. At the moment, seven members of the Presidium of the Coordination Council are under arrest or have gone abroad, including the Nobel laureate in literature Svetlana Aleksievich.
