Brazilian model Valentina Sampaio has graced the latest issue of a reputable men's magazine. She became the first transgender woman to be featured on the cover of Sports Illustrated.

Valentina was born in a male body, but at the age of eight she dreamed of becoming a woman. The mother tried to rectify the situation and took her son to a psychotherapist. But already at the age of 15, it became clear that the boy had a lot of female hormones - his breasts began to grow, but the hair, on the contrary, did not appear.

In Brazil, Valentina admits, it was difficult to find a job. When they found out about her past, employers broke contracts with her.

“Brazil is a wonderful country, but it has the largest number of violent crimes and murders of transgender people in the world - three times more than in the United States,” she said. "Being a trance is, as a rule, constantly knocking on the closed doors of people's hearts and minds."

Recently, transgender models are increasingly appearing on the covers of glossy magazines. Russian Tatler this year put on the cover of the magazine a close friend of Renata Litvinova Natalia. She used to live in a male body too.
