Actress Inna Churikova admitted that she still keeps a notebook in which she once wrote down his most ridiculous jokes. Satirist Vladimir Vinokur called the deceased a great writer and citizen of his country. The poet Vadim Zhuk, with whom Zhvanetsky was broadcasting on TV, considers the deceased friend to be one of the creators of the modern Russian language, along with other great writers of the past.

On October 6, 2020, it became known that the writer completed his concert activity due to the unfavorable epidemiological situation in the country, as well as due to age. Zhvanetsky's assistant Oleg Stashkevich reported that the program "Duty in the country" was closed back in 2019 due to the fact that the writer did not have enough strength. On November 6, Stashkevich confirmed the death of Zhvanetsky.
Zhvanetsky is a Soviet and Russian satirist, actor, screenwriter, People's Artist of the Russian Federation (2012) and People's Artist of Ukraine (2009). Chevalier of the Order of Merit for the Fatherland, III degree. Has appeared at the Odessa Philharmonic Society and the Moscow Hermitage Theater.
