LUGANSK, February 1. / TASS /. Vaccination against coronavirus infection with the Russian Sputnik V vaccine began on Monday in the Luhansk People's Republic (LPR). This was announced by the Minister of Health of the LPR Natalia Pashchenko.

"Vaccination will be free of charge voluntarily, and it has already begun today, on Monday. I want to once again thank the Russian Federation for its invaluable help in shaping the health of our population," the agency Luganskinformtsentr quotes her.

According to her, doctors received appropriate training to vaccinate the population against coronavirus and received the necessary recommendations on how to handle the drug. The first to arrive for the vaccination were the employees of the ambulance and the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the republic, the Minister of Health noted.

Earlier it was reported that in the LPR, first of all, medical workers, teachers and certain categories of law enforcement officers will be vaccinated.

The first batch of Russian coronavirus vaccine arrived in the LPR last weekend. The head of the republic, Leonid Pasechnik, said that "regular deliveries of the vaccine from Russia are expected in the future."

As of February 1, 2,624 cases of coronavirus infection were recorded in the republic.
