The Russian government is not going to introduce tough, total restrictions in connection with the coronavirus infection. This was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin at a meeting with the board of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RSPP). He noted that the country will continue to introduce targeted measures to combat COVID-19.
"Regarding the possibility of tough, total restrictive measures - we do not plan to do this, the government has no such plans"- Putin said at a meeting with members of the board of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs.
The President called the main tasks in the fight against coronavirus compliance with safety measures, continued testing and vaccination throughout the country. He added that "the focus should always be on protecting people's lives and health."
“There are drugs, medicines, a vaccine appears, and the general way of fighting - it is the continuation of testing, adherence to precautions, and vaccination. We need to roll out this vaccination throughout the country. <…> In this case, I appeal to entrepreneurs who are engaged in this type of activity - to become more involved in this work and provide the required amount of the Russian vaccine produced "- emphasized the Russian leader.
Press Secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov also assured that there was no talk of introducing a second self-isolation regime in the country. According to him, restrictions in certain regions are introduced on the basis of the powers of local authorities, which they received back this spring.
Earlier, the chief infectious disease specialist of the Russian Ministry of Health, Vladimir Chulanov, spoke about effective security measures during a pandemic. He noted that the use of cloth gloves does not protect against coronavirus.
“Gloves and skin antiseptics, when used correctly, are equally effective measures. If we are talking about wearing gloves, it is important to note that they must be used once. We put them on before we go into public places where there are large crowds of people and there are surfaces to which we touch. It is important to understand that anything can be a source of infection. Therefore, it is necessary to put on gloves before entering - said Professor Chulanov.
At a meeting with board members of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, Putin also said that the global economy is still in an unstable state and may face new acute problems due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Therefore, in this difficult period, business and the state must work harmoniously.
In Russia, over the past day, 15,700 new cases of coronavirus have been detected. The total number of cases reached 1,447,335. During the day, 317 deaths were recorded, 10,952 patients fully recovered. A total of 1,096,560 Russians have been discharged. Since the beginning of the pandemic, 24,952 patients with coronavirus have died in the country.
In terms of the number of new cases of COVID-19, Moscow is still in first place - 4389 patients. The capital is followed by St. Petersburg - 684 cases, Moscow region - 466, Nizhny Novgorod region - 332, Rostov region - 305 covid patients.
