How do you feel about perfume? Coco Chanel said that “Perfume is an invisible, but unforgettable, unsurpassed fashion accessory. He notifies about the appearance of a woman and continues to remind of her when she is gone. " She was very categorical, stating that "A woman who does not know how to use perfume has no future!"

The history of perfumery is rooted in the past. In the ancient Egyptian chronicles there is a mention of incense, in Greece, aromatic oils and incense were used for religious and domestic purposes, and in ancient Rome, patricians were distinguished from plebeians by aroma: the latter did not have the right to use incense. The perfume has been elevated to a cult!

Today it is difficult to imagine a woman who can be indifferent to perfume. Everyone knows that a favorite scent can cheer you up and give you confidence. Perfume for a woman is an important part of the image, and the "second self".

But how to find your scent? Why train your sense of smell and how to do it? I asked about this from the Russian perfumer, President of the Guild of Perfumers Oksana Chernyshova (St. Petersburg).

Oksana is not only a high-level professional, but a person who is passionately passionate about her work. You can listen to it for hours! The collections of fragrances created by her are scattered all over the world, and her clients have the opportunity to get a unique perfume for themselves, created exclusively for themselves.

How to choose?

- To find a fragrance "for yourself", you need to choose very carefully, - says Chernyshova, - For this we go to a perfume shop and smell, smell, smell as much as possible. Even an untrained nose can distinguish more than 50 scents from each other! And be sure to take a small bottle of water with us. As soon as the nose is "tired", we take a sip of water. After that, the sense of smell is "zeroed" and you can try the perfumes again. Smelling coffee is useless because coffee clogs our receptors and we stop feeling.

The scent you like should be applied to a blotter (a paper strip for testing perfume) and take with you. It is better to take 5-6 options with you and put blotters, without mixing, in a book or diary. We evaluate what the aroma turns into every one and a half to two hours. Out of 5-6, a maximum of 2-3 will remain, for which you should return to the store and try to apply them to your hand. Trying perfume on your skin is a must! The base notes on the skin are revealed in different ways: the fragrance can “sit” perfectly, or it can irritate with an absurd “sound”, although at first it seemed that the perfume was wonderful.

Why train?

- The sense of smell must be trained, - says Oksana, - It develops the brain and enhances mental activity. When we smell something, we put a colossal load on the analytical brain, and this is very important! By the way, training your sense of smell can help you avoid dementia. Do you know that children and old people have the worst sense of smell? Since ancient times, shamans have had the keenest sense of smell. By smell, they could direct hunters in one direction or another for the right prey, predict rain or hurricane. The human brain is able to recognize tens of thousands of combinations of smells, and we need this not only to survive, but also to enjoy life. Train your sense of smell and you can be much happier.

How to do it?

- To train the sense of smell is very simple, without even straining: waking up in the morning, smell your pillow, on which the scent of yesterday's perfume remains. Bury your nose in a loved one nearby or in a baby smelling of childhood. Smell the smell of toothpaste, soap. Breathe in the aroma of coffee, food, fresh air outside. Thus, we do a kind of exercise for the brain, help it wake up and be active. If you come to the sea, then try to decompose the smell of the sea into the simplest components: watermelon, cucumbers, seaweed. You will be surprised how easy it is!

For the "advanced" - you can try to decompose the perfume into its components. There are recognizable components in any of the most complex aromas. This is an exciting activity and a very healthy workout for the brain!

So, dear readers, now you and I have a very good reason to visit a perfume boutique more often, right?
