Veterinarians from the University of California at Davis decided to help the bears crippled by a fire in an unusual way. Doctors transplanted fish scales onto the burnt soles of the animals, the New York Post reported.

Peyton noted that after the operation, the bear immediately got up on her paws. While the animal was asleep, veterinarians sewed fish scales to the limbs. Instead of bandages, they used rice paper and corn husks as bandages.
