In the Pskov regional hospital, doctors rescued a patient with COVID-19, whose lungs were affected by 90%, the regional operational headquarters for combating the disease reported.

“Pskovich Valery Sokolovsky was ill with a coronavirus and survived, although the virus affected 90% of his lungs. Doctors of the new infectious diseases hospital fought around the clock for the patient's life. And now … the disease has receded, there is a long way to restore the body ahead, RIA Novosti quotes a message from the headquarters.

The regional TV channel Vesti-Pskov reported in its report that the man had been in the hospital for about a month. He was admitted to a medical facility with 20% of his lungs affected, and within a few days it had grown to 90%.

Pskovich received a certificate from the Pskov Infectious Diseases Hospital for his personal contribution to the fight against the virus. He said that he still cannot walk and lift weights due to shortness of breath, but he is in rehabilitation.

He added that the doctors not only provided him with all the necessary medical care, but also "gave him a lot of moral support."

Earlier, doctors of the Vidnovskaya regional clinical suburb of Moscow rescued a patient weighing 200 kilograms with damage to 97% of the lungs and other pathologies. Prior to this, it was reported that in Kirov, doctors managed to save a ten-year-old girl who was hospitalized with damage to all organs as a result of COVID-19.
