Amur scientists are soon planning to grow skin, blood vessels and even internal organs for humans. Experts hope that it will be possible to obtain a sample by the end of the year. It will be tested on rodents. According to doctors, the skin printed on a special printer will look like a thin plate. And with this plate it will be possible to close the damaged area of the body. To get 10 square centimeters, it will take up to a crescent.
“It is impossible to create a completely identical skin in the next decade (in which there will be hair follicles, sebaceous and sweat glands). But we will create a product that can be gradually modified by the body's own cells and will eventually turn into full-fledged skin,”said Anton Yatsenko, head of the laboratory of cell technologies at the biomedical company, to the Amur State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company.
For this, bio-ink is created in the Annunciation laboratory: it is a mixture of skin cells and chemical elements. Thanks to the composition of biochurns, doctors intend to increase cell survival. Colleagues from Novosibirsk are setting up the printer. The printed leather can be used in pharmaceuticals - to test medicines not on animals, but on artificial material; used in medicine - for example, in burn centers. In the meantime, laboratory mice are participating in the experiments. The first skin grafting operation is planned for the animal at the end of the year. When the technology is thoroughly tested and introduced into official medicine, they will try to make artificial skin available to any person.
