Eau de toilette In Love Again, Yves Saint Laurent

Tested by BeautyHack Senior Editor Anastasia Speranskaya

As far back as I can remember, I always wanted to be like my mother - with her invariable bob haircut (like the heroine of the movie "Where Dreams May Come"), white oversized shirts and neat boats. In the 90s, she almost did not wear makeup, and now she prefers nude, but she loved persistent and noticeable scents. When a bright green box with the coveted inscription Yves Saint Laurent appeared on her dressing table, it was immediately clear that her mother had found a new pet! He smelled very fresh and femininely brutal - grapefruit juice, mowed grass and warm musk, he stayed on the skin for several days, and on clothes - infinity (this is me as a person who often borrows my mother's things, I say). my beauty knowledge, I am surprised at the unusual perfume composition - in the base the company of musk was made up of blackberries and tomatoes, in the heart - water lily and rose, and among the top notes there is (attention) vodka! I keep the jar with the remains of the perfume to this day, like a small time machine - I uncork the lid and go back to childhood.

Eau de toilette Alien, Thierry Mugler

Tested by BeautyHack project manager Anastasia Lyagushkina

The French Fashion House released its first legendary "newcomer" in 2005, followed by a series of re-releases. The last two appeared this year - Man for men and floral Flora Futura. But acquaintance with the scent should start from the basics - the first Alien with woody and jasmine notes. In general, jasmine is the first thing you smell when you inhale the scent. A little later, amber and woody accords will open. I also felt citrus, although it is not declared in the pyramid. Jasmine, lilac, iron notes, tobacco - whatever you hear in it, if applied correctly (it needs just a little bit), the trail will be magical!

Eau de parfum Chanel No 5, Chanel

Tested by BeautyHack Editor Natalia Kapitsa

The history of Chanel 5 began long before I was born. The scent that smells like a woman was created in 1921 by the talented perfumer Ernest Bo. Experimenting with aldehydes, he presented Coco with ten options. “Let it be the fifth,” the “legend” replied, and the fragrance received the name of the same name. Since then, the tart Chanel 5 with bergamot and lemon in the top perfume notes, jasmine and rose in the middle, sandalwood and musk in the base ones has appeared on the shelf of every socialite. As far back as I can remember, there was always a bottle with a yellowish-orange liquid on my mother's dressing table. Every morning she did several taps on the spray, and the room was filled with a familiar, "native" smell. He was special to me. As soon as my nose caught it in the kindergarten corridor, into which I was only given the third time, I jumped up from the chair and ran to meet my mother. I accurately knew how to distinguish Chanel 5 from "the smell of other moms." She fell asleep with him - holding a book with a fairy tale, her wrists still smelled, and woke up. Today I have this scent on my shelf. Every time I feel a lack of warmth and a sense of security, I take out a “medicinal” bottle. A little bit of Chanel 5, and immediately there is a feeling that a loved one is somewhere nearby: right now he will enter the room, take his hand and we will happily go home, leaving in another reality all the delights of an adult, independent life.

CrystalNoir, Versace

Tested by BeautyHack editorial assistant Karina Ilyasova

The fragrance was released in 2004 and became the only experience of cooperation with Versace for the perfumer Antoin Lee. But how! For me, Crystal Noir is winter or at least evening, but even without me, the fragrance has plenty of “all-season” fans. When applied, notes of ginger and cardamom are immediately felt, seasoned with pepper. The last accord makes the fragrance heavy (just a little). Coconut opens up next for me, but thanks to the notes of orange and peony, it turns out to be sweet. Sandalwood, musk and amber are responsible for the "oriental" trail. It is this composition that stays on the skin for 5 hours, so if you are after lighter fragrances, I recommend the iconic Bright Crystal from Versace.

Eau de toilette Bright crystal, Versace

Tested by BeautyHack editor Julia Kozoliy

When Versace presented this fragrance in 2006, I was graduating from high school and not only borrowed it from my mother, but had all the legal rights to it! Therefore, when in the editorial office we were deciding who would write about this legend from Versace, I volunteered to plunge into this simultaneously exciting and carefree time. Bright crystal was created by Spanish perfumer Alberto Morillas, who has more than 50 fragrances, 20 of which you do not just know, but most likely even tried: from democratic Zara Home to legendary Daisy by Mark Jacobs and Omnia by Bvlgari.

But back to Bright crystal. This is a lite version of Crystal Noir for those who hate complex perfume compositions or do not want to use them in the heat. Not gentle, but not cloying either, with a special composition in which I personally distinctly feel the notes of peony, lemon (the top accord is Japanese yuzu lemon) and pomegranate. It also has amber and musk, but more like an afterword that you catch on your clothes at the end of the day.

I like the fragrance for its simplicity: you do not need to "rub" against each other, it is light, airy, but leaves a trail that you want to "take apart".

Habanita, Molinard

Tested by BeautyHack editorial assistant Karina Ilyasova

Habanita is an old-timer of this collection and one of the very first fragrances of the 20th century. It was released in 1921, when Europe was recovering from the consequences of the First World War, and perfume shops appeared like mushrooms in Paris. One of them was Molinard (although the company itself is from Grasse). The Habanita scent was created for women who smoke - it was supposed to drown out the smell of cigarettes. But "Little Havana" conquered absolutely everyone, and for a century has hardly undergone any changes. Although there were many re-releases and variations of the bottles.

I got the 2012 fragrance designed by Rene Lalique. It has kept 600 original essences, but changed their proportions. If you like Salvador Dali's Dali Eau de Toilette with black lips, Habanita will love you too, I bet! His composition is rich: geranium, lentisk, ylang-ylang, Madagascar vanilla, jasmine, amber, oak moss. Due to such a complex composition, the aroma is revealed in different ways in different weather. For the same reason, for some it is a witch's potion, but for others it is a reference to church incense. I hear ambergris, vanilla, sandalwood in it, and I also remember my mother's scarlet lipstick.

Eau de parfum Shalimar, Guerlain

Tested by BeautyHack smm manager Alexandra Grishina:

Now I have my own bottle of the legendary scent and now I know that I have got a real treasure with a history that is about to overcome the 100-year mark. But then, in 2008, I admired his newly minted muse Natalia Vodianova and my mother's posture with which she wore Shalimar. How else, if you have in your hands the fruit of the craftsmanship and imagination of the genius Jacques Guerlain (he presented Shalimar in 1925, and the bottle immediately became a symbol of the House of Guerlain at the Exhibition of Decorative Arts in the same year). The magic of the fragrance, of course, is in vanilla, which is extinguished in the composition by incense, leather and, finally, prunes. The fragrance, like the bottle, is ageless. It is rich, enveloping and magical, just like the story to which it is dedicated. It was in the Shalimar Gardens in India, according to legend, that the heroes of The Thousand and One Nights fell in love: Princess Mumtaz Mahal and Shah Jahan. Perfume connoisseurs know that the result of these feelings is not only the famous Taj Mahal, but also the legendary Shalimar.

Eau de toilette Anais Anais, Сacharel

Tested by BeautyHack Editor-in-Chief Karina Andreeva

I associate both the 90s and 2000s with the Cacharel fragrances. First, Anais Anais, who had been standing on my mother’s dressing table for as long as I can remember (I appreciated the importance of the scent much later, of course). It was invented in 1978, putting the whole phantasmagoria of the 80s into the fragrance! An extremely honest description: floral, stringy (so much so that it seems stifling to some), but not repulsive. It smells like a whole bunch of lilies (yes, the most fragrant). Hyacinth and lilies of the valley dissect this accord - boldly and without delay.

Well, the 2000s are Amor Amor. Vanilla orange with a top note of black currant. Then it seemed that there was no escape from him (he was mega-popular), but now he brings back memories of the best childhood!

Eau de parfum spray White Linen, Estée Lauder

Tested by BeautyHack editor Daria Sizova

The scent comes from the 80s (its perfumer Sofia Groisman, by the way, a native of the Soviet Union, created in 1978). One of the top notes is aldehydes, so it smells of powder, chypre and, miraculously, floral freshness at the same time. This is what everyone feels when they taste the scent. Further more fascinating - for some it is revealed as a hyacinth, for someone - as a carnation. My association is lily of the valley flavored with an impressive portion of honey - for perfume gourmets!

Eau de toilette L'Air du Temps, Nina Ricci

Tested by BeautyHack editor Julia Kozoliy

The first fragrance was released in 1948. Now it is often called vintage, but for me it will always have to do with the "adult" world, guests in a cramped living room in the 90s and my mother fluttering between them. Feminine, classic, revealing with cloves, powdery aldehydes and spices. A lively, changeable and sensual aroma with a bottle to match: the doves on it are a symbol of peace and love!

Price: RUB 3799 (30 ml)

Dressing room Armani Code Donna, Giorgio Armani

Tested by BeautyHack Editor-in-Chief Karina Andreeva

The main notes are three variations of orange and neroli. Should sound bright, evening-like and only used for special occasions. But for me this is a trip to the Mediterranean with the obligatory scent of blooming flowers, which is muffled by honey and vanilla. For this reason, I wear it in the warm season - the train seems to merge with the aromas around!
