In January, makeup artist Hang Wango posted this adorable shot of Selena Gomez, in which the wall above Selena's shoulder looks curved. No one was able to figure out what specifically needed editing in this photo. But the result is weird.
Jesse Nelson's leg
In January, Little Mix member Jesse Nelson was the victim of several unsuccessfully photographed frames in Touch's music video. In this photo, the singer's right leg looks thinner than the left.
Retouching on a Net-A-Porter photo
In March, online retailer Net-A-Porter accidentally posted a photo covered with retouching notes. “We publish images that represent the garment exactly to ensure that customers get the product they expect,” a Net-A-Porter spokesperson wrote in an email. "This image was uploaded to our page by mistake and the notes are for clothing only."
Kim Kardashian-West's skin in her ad for KKW Beauty
In June, Kim Kardashian-West posted on Instagram promotional images for her KKW Beauty makeup collection, but under one of them, readers accused her of blackface (a cartoon of a black man's face). “I was very tanned when we filmed; may not have applied contrast [in the camera or while editing], "Kardashian later admitted to the New York Times. “However, I have shown this photo to many people, many in show business. Nobody paid attention to it, nobody mentioned it. We found the problem, we took it into account and fixed it right away. It definitely served as a lesson for me."
Right hand Kris Jenner
Kris Jenner ran an ad for Flat Tummy Tea in June, but all readers were looking at was her heavily edited right hand.
Emily Ratajkowski's lips and breasts
In September, Emily Ratajkowski appeared on the cover of the French magazine Madame Figaro, where she noticed her lips and breasts had been edited. “I was extremely annoyed that my lips and chest were corrected on the cover,” she wrote on Instagram. “I hope the fashion industry finally stops suppressing what makes us unique and starts honoring individuality instead.”

This Tomb Ryder movie poster featuring Alicia Vikander went viral in September as it depicts her with an oddly crooked neck.
Hair Solange on the cover of ES Magazine
In October, Solange criticized the London Evening Standard for editing her hair in Photoshop on the cover of a magazine. She posted an initial photo on Instagram along with the caption "dtmh" (don’t touch my hair). “The decision to change the photo was made because of the layout [of the cover],” The Evening Standard later explained. "Let's face it, we made the wrong decision, so we made an unconditional apology to Solange."
Hands in a Netflix photo for Nanny
If you glanced at this photo, you probably didn't notice what was wrong with it. In October, a Reddit user noticed that the nanny pictured on the Netflix page is pictured with two right hands.
Lupita Nyong'o Hair for Grazia UK
Lupita reached out to Instagram to voice her disagreement with how Grazia U. K. changed her hair for her November issue. “Even though I grew up without thinking that straight, silky hair is the standard of beauty, I know that my dark skin and curly charcoal hair are beautiful too. Being on the cover of a magazine for me is an opportunity to show people with dark curly hair, especially our children, that they are beautiful the way they are.
I'm disappointed that @graziauk invited me to shoot for the cover and then edited and smeared my hair to match their idea of how beautiful hair should look. " Photographer Ahn Le later apologized, saying, "I now understand what a fundamental mistake I have made and would like to apologize to Miss Nyong'o and everyone I have offended."
