The Walnut Face Scrub, released by the personal cosmetics brand of TV star Kylie Jenner, has proven to be hazardous to health. Reported by The Sun.
In a commercial, Jenner recommends using a "gentle yet highly effective" scrub three times a week, claiming it removes dead skin cells. However, dermatologists have warned fans of the Kylie Skin brand that the product contains walnuts, which can cause serious damage to the skin of the face. According to them, the tough particles of walnut shells create microcracks on the surface of the skin, allowing bacteria to penetrate deeper layers.
“Walnut shell powder is known to be a powerful exfoliator. While this is a great way to get rid of dead skin cells, harsh exfoliating ingredients can ultimately injure your skin,”commented British skincare expert Ross Perry.
Many Kylie Jenner fans have also criticized her for using this ingredient. “The head of the largest cosmetics company in the world adds walnuts to the scrub. Everyone knows that it is harmful. I'm tired of it,”lamented one Twitter user. “It's terrifying. Walnut scrub? It's scary to think that millions of girls will buy this garbage and ruin their skin,”another agreed. “I just asked my dermatologist about this product and she said it’s the same as rubbing your face with a metal washcloth. Stay away from him,”said the third.
Kylie Jenner has not yet responded to the claims.
