Citrus, floral and woody scents will remain relevant in 2018. Some of them will even be delayed for the next five years, according to the Armenian perfumer Arman Manukyan.

"For the last five years, fashion has not changed: citrus fragrances will continue to dominate in 2018. Perfumes based on bergamot, lime, tangerine will be in the first positions in the ratings," Manukyan said in an interview with Sputnik Armenia.

Hesperide (citrus) aromas are more popular in the summer. They are believed to be refreshing and also suitable for fair-skinned blondes. Floral and woody fragrances will also be trending this year.

Woody perfumes were quite popular in 2016-2017. However, they have every chance to stay for another five years, Manukyan said.

Long-forgotten scents such as "Dior Addict", "Angel" Thierry Mugler and variations from Narciso Rodriguez fall into this category. You can find them everywhere - from European counters and duty-free shops to perfumery boutiques in Yerevan. Thick woody aromas, combined with notes of nutmeg, cedar, sandalwood in the novelties of 2018 will be diluted with floral and citrus fruits. The beauty of modern perfumery is that you can hear each note "separately" depending on the place, weather, mood and time.

“Woody scents will continue to inspire perfumers and consumers. However, abstract compositions with daring combinations of citrus, woody and floral aromas are considered more fashionable today. perfumer.

According to him, there is nothing surprising in the fact that floral scents are in demand in 2018, since women are very fond of flowers. However, there are also preferences here: the most popular of this series will be jasmine-based scents, as well as jasmine combined with patchouli, incense, almonds, caramel.

Nevertheless, fashion trends do not mean at all that lovers of thick oriental scents will have to give up their favorite perfume. The fragrances of the East began to gain popularity since the end of 2016, and they still continue to defend their right to life. Among the new products, you can also find aldehyde fragrances, that is, perfumes based on artificially created chemical compounds that differ in structure and, accordingly, smell. In the history of perfumery, the first synthetic fragrance based on aldehydes was the legendary Chanel N5, the author of which was Ernest Bo. This perfume is still often "heard" from fashionable middle-aged ladies. In recent years, variations of the powdery aroma have not lost their popularity.

“When choosing fragrances, one should listen to intuition and sense of smell. For example, you may not like jasmine, but you may like the fragrance with its combination,” said Manukyan.

Finally, the expert noted that perfume importers are beginning to follow fashion trends more closely and bring more and more new products, expanding the perfumery horizons of local residents.
