December is the month in which the demand for microloans among the population reaches its maximum value. The number of loans issued in the period from December 14 to 30, that is, two weeks before the New Year, increases by an average of 30% compared to other months, which in absolute terms is about 2.8 million loans. These are the findings of a study by the Home Money company.
Most often, before the New Year, clients take out loans in order to make gifts for themselves and their loved ones - 20% of the total volume of “New Year's” applications.
According to a survey of borrowers of MFOs who have submitted an application, 45% of the approved amount is going to be spent on gifts, another 40% - on the New Year's table, about 15% - on entertainment during the holidays (cinema, theater, restaurants and cafes).
Speaking of gifts, the most popular are still cosmetics and perfume - about 35% of borrowers will choose this particular gift for their loved ones, 25% will give a smartphone, about 15% - small household appliances (kettle, coffee machine, iron, hairdryer, laptop), 12% of respondents will give clothes or shoes (of which about 40% a fur coat made of inexpensive furs), 8% - jewelry or watches, 5% named other gifts (among which there were animals, plants, theater tickets, books, sporting goods (skates, skis), etc.).
The amount of the requested loan before the holidays increases by an average of 5-10% and currently in absolute terms is about 27-30 thousand rubles.
