Adrianna Ely, 39, claims her nose began to grow in 2013. To make breathing easier at night, she had to prop up the tip of her nose with her finger, because otherwise the nostrils would be closed. Due to her illness, the woman began to lead a reclusive lifestyle: she was afraid that people would stare at her.
Initially, Eli believed that complications from a rhinoplasty she had undergone four years earlier were the cause of the change in the shape of her nose. In 2017, Eli saw on TV a story about rhinophyma, a chronic disease of the skin of the nose with symptoms that resemble it.
She went to a dermatologist, who confirmed her guess. The diagnosis was not made earlier, as rhinophyma is rare in women. As a rule, men 40-50 years old suffer from it.
The specialist recommended Or a procedure in which the top layer of the skin of the nose three millimeters thick will be burned with a laser. After the operation, the woman's breathing difficulties disappeared for the first time in a long time, but her nose began to look even worse. For the first few weeks, she was forced to wear a mask.
For the next two years, Or attended weekly procedures to restore the normal shape and pigmentation of the nose. Treatment is expected to end in May 2019.
