A Brazilian model with a disease of vitiligo (a violation of skin pigmentation - approx. "Lenta.ru") spoke about the bullying in social networks that she had to endure because of the disease. Her story appeared on the Daily Mail website. According to 21-year-old Brazilian Karen Bianca Leda (Karen Bianca Leda), her skin color began to be ridiculed at an early age. For example, as a child, she often saw strangers look at her and point fingers. The girl also noted that her mother always tried to protect her from insults, constantly went to the doctors with her and tried to find a cure for the disease. “My earliest memories are of my mom and family taking me to all kinds of doctors, where I tried countless treatments, but they were all unsuccessful. I was bullied not only by my peers, but also by my teachers. I distinctly remember how one of them compared me to a cow,”said Leda. The model's mother tried to find a cure for the spots on her skin until she was 17 years old, until the girl decided that she should stop trying to get rid of them and accept her appearance. Then the heroine of the material promised herself not to let other people's comments prevent her from loving her body. However, she admits that it still gets hard for her when strangers criticize her appearance on the street.
“Once I was taking my child home after school. At that moment, a stranger came up to me and began to talk about the cure for vitiligo, which he learned about on the Internet. He said that the treatment consists in scratching the depigmented area of the skin until it bleeds, then smearing it with lemon juice and putting it in the sun,”the Brazilian said. In addition, the girl receives many messages every day from men who ask to show them their breasts and ask what color her genitals are. Leda explained that she never replies to such messages and always blocks such users on social networks. As a result, the girl became a model to show people with similar skin conditions that they, too, have the right to a happy life. According to Leda, her work has helped many fans accept and love themselves. “For me, the most important thing is to demonstrate to people with the same skin condition that they can be happy and they don’t need to try to change,” said the fashion model. In August, a child with vitiligo hit the cover of Vogue. This black and white image shows Mila Abouchalbak from Lebanon, injured in a massive explosion in Beirut. Part of her face is covered with a light spot due to a congenital skin disorder.
