The 56-year-old woman walked the runway in a bikini and became one of the finalists in the modeling competition for Sports Illustrated magazine, which specializes in photographing women in swimwear. Reported by the New York Post.
The annual casting began in July 2019. Seven months later, the names of applicants for the title of permanent fashion model of the publication were announced. Together with 20-year-old girls, 56-year-old American Kathy Jacobs took part in the fashion show, who distinguished herself and got into the top six.
“I am still in shock. Being part of this movement means a lot to me, as it does to all women my age. I am 56 years old, and people usually consider people over 55 to be retirees. I want to show the world that this is not so,”Jacobs shared her thoughts.
As an activist, the woman is fighting to expand the age range in the modeling business. She not only participates in candid photo shoots, but also works as an actress. For example, she became the heroine of the music video Oh Yeah! group Green Day.
Among the Sports Illustrated finalists, along with Jacobs, was also Christie Valdiserri, who suffers from alopecia (baldness).
In November 2019, pensioner Maria Cristina won the competition for the best figure in a bikini. She stopped working at 69 and went in for sports. After 4 years, the woman reached physical shape, which allowed her to take part in the competition for the most beautiful body ICN Las Vegas Open Fitness and Model Championships in Las Vegas. Christina took first place, despite the fact that many competitors were twice her age.
