The presentation of the annual award "Mrs. Moscow-2018" took place recently. The winner is Ekaterina Lifshits, 35-year-old mother of two twin sons. Before that, she had to go through a serious selection among 150 applicants and bypass 13 rivals in the final.

However, Catherine did not have to enjoy the victory for long. On the Web, the queen's external data has been harshly criticized. The well-known blogger Rustem Adagamov posted a photo of the winner on his Facebook page. And netizens in the comments could not hold back their emotions: “We are now not having a beauty contest, but a contest for plastic surgeons”, “How could such an ugly woman with clearly pumped lips be chosen in Mrs. Moscow? Did the jury forget glasses at home? Or they were well paid to choose her.” Many criticized the appearance not only of Catherine, but also of her rivals.

A similar story has already been repeated at the Miss Moscow-2017 contest, when the crown was put on by 21-year-old Elizaveta Lopatina. Not everyone agreed with the jury's choice: “There is no beauty in her. One paint 5 cm thick. It was much more interesting. Only a small part of the audience tried to justify Elizabeth's appearance with bad makeup.

The jury's choice was also criticized at the Miss Moscow pageants in 2016 and 2015. The winners then were Tatyana Tsimfer and Oksana Voevodina, which not everyone liked. Behind tons of makeup, it was difficult for viewers to understand what the participants really looked like, but this is a common problem with such events.

Quite the opposite happened at the Miss Moscow 2014 contest, when netizens found photographs of the winner Irina Alekseeva, but without makeup, and had mixed feelings: “This is how our beauty queens look, right?”

Spectators are unhappy with the jury's choice not only in Russia. For example, the Bulgarians condemned the choice of the jury at the Miss Bulgaria 2017 contest. Then the winner was 24-year-old Tamara Georgieva. Netizens believed that Tamara is far from the standards of beauty and that “if she is beautiful, then only with her soul”. Tamara was able to fight back the haters and said that everyone has their own beauty standards and nothing can be done about it.

The Miss Michigan 2016 beauty pageant was won by Arianna Kuan, who also listened to many unpleasant words addressed to her. On the web, she was called ugly and said that she put on the crown because of the tolerance of the Americans. Arianna was the first Asian to enter the competition.
